Introduce the chapter Sirens of James Joyce's Ulysses to a contemporary audience.
Solution
Branding and packaging has been designed for a limited collection of fruit beer by a prospective brewery. Bloomsday is an annually celebrated festival where people from all around the world join in Dublin to celebrate the book of Ulysses. Considering drinking and music is a prevalent theme both within Joyce's writing and Bloomsday festivities it seemed the perfect opportunity to introduce the brand and text to young tourists and locals alike. The designs themselves directly embody the text by infographically representing the tempo and syllables of the writing style using geometry.

Illustrated are images taken from photos of histology slides; microscopic samples of tissue used for research and diagnosis. They have been printed onto fabric for people who suffer from skin conditions and have to buy certain clothes and bedding. The images have been drawn in a way to be decorative and something you can be proud to own. They are designed to be a celebration of skin. Objects that raise awareness whilst removing stigma.
Hand drawn illustrations have been scanned and edited in Photoshop to create a repeating pattern, before being printed digitally on fabric. The fabric has then been sewn to the correct dimensions of a duvet cover and pillow cases. T-shirts were also produced using clothing patterns.

Recognising a gap in the market I formed my own creative brief. In current culture the spaces for the LGBTQ+ community is ever growing in terms of pubs, bars, and nightclubs. These places are vital to communities as a place to feel safe and seen. Whilst these establishments are so important they are not as inclusive to certain groups of people. For instance those under the age of eighteen, and people who don’t drink for personal or religious reasons. Many of the current venues also have a large sway towards gay cisgender men, with only a small number being more inclusive to cis women and/or transgender individuals.
